Just finished my second full piece of 2024 and I can’t show you this one until April! So far I have shown the piece to a couple of people and the reaction has been, “I love the purple flowers!” So here you go! This 18x24 is my contribution to the 2024 @soiree_sage happening on April 12th! Get your sparkles and gowns ready! “Creeping Green” 16x20 Acrylic on Gallery Wrapped Canvas This, my friends, is a Green Honeycreeper and some rainforest foliage and tbh I am in love with it. I have needed color and magic for a long time. Between grief and moving away from our friends and our old life I really fell away from creating. I think I painted MAYBE six times last year.🫣 With an art hanging coming up in May, creating new work for @soiree_sage I in April and art rotating out of @innominatecoffeehouse and @sagecommunityarts I need some fresh material! I am so grateful to have been able to contribute to the silent auction at the Downtown Sheridan Association's Annual Wine Fest this year. The items donated from the community and beyond were amazing! I was thrilled to collaborate with @mcpictureco and @wyocandleco to put together this pretty basket! At the end of the night, the basket made it to the best home it could have. Silver Moonlight Delight 16x20 Acrylic on wrapped canvas I had a real connection to this painting, the bat really spoke to me when I was trying to decide what to paint for the annual Soiree in Sheridan last April. For some reason (probably mental health and grief-related) I couldn’t paint a bird. Nothing spoke to me and I thinned through my usual inspiration spots. Guys!! I have big news! My family and I have been through the absolute ringer the last few months and it’s safe to finally say that we have caught our stride and we’re settling in our new home in the Sheridan, Wyoming area! I started my full time job at the Downtown Sheridan Association in December a few days after we moved as the marketing and events director. After I had shoulder surgery at the end of August, we put the house on the market in Bozeman and started getting ready to move. In October my dad passed away unexpectedly and that expedited our urgency to get closer to my family to be near my mom.💔 My heart was broken, we are all still struggling with his loss. My husband and I signed the papers on the sale of our home about a week after my dad died and we found a home in Wyoming about a week later. Two weeks after owning our new home we had a pipe burst in the garage at -27° that caused a massive amount of damage. Needless to say, the new year was VERY hopeful for us to try and start fresh and kick off 2023 with some good juju and some much needed positive vibes. 🌈 Now on to my art, I am still creating! I have a fun creative space in the new home and I love it! Today I took a leap of faith and purchased an artist membership at @sagecommunityarts! The owner, Jill, is on the DSA Board and I’ve really enjoyed chatting with her about SAGE and what they offer local artists. I am so so thrilled that Sheridan has a place like SAGE and they work with all kinds of artists. Since I have a pile of original pieces and a lot of drive to keep creating, I thought I’d see what my new/old community thinks of my work and put myself out there. I have a show coming up in April in Bozeman at @lockhorncider for Audubon April, which I will talk more about later. Until then I’m going to work on Sheridan and get my art out in the world and make some new connections!

“Full Recovery” 18x24 Acrylic + Mixed Media on Gallery Wrapped Canvas I didn’t paint this piece with the intention of it hitting me as hard as it did. I started it as a “I need one last abstract for my upcoming show and I have this random recovered canvas to use up…” and it turned into therapy for me. I am dreading surgery. I don’t want to go through recovery and take pain meds and be unable to work and be a supportive partner. But while working on this and feeling the ache in my arm and the joint pulling as I worked, it’s more apparent to me than ever that life is short, some things are temporary AND there are far more challenging things than recovering from shoulder reconstruction. I need this surgery. I needed the perspective shift today. I needed to work on this piece and go through the layers of paint and reworking sections over and over to get them right and to FEEL the physical change. I needed to get through the ugly and messy and make something pretty and tangible. This piece and 15 more will be on display and for sale at the @belgradelibrary starting tomorrow! Finding inspiration in nature is what my art is all about. 🪶🌷🌈 I took this while hiking in the Big Horn Mountains with my son and my mom last week. I felt like all the mountain time, kayaking, water floating and outdoor time really helped me fill up my cup again as a creative. NEWS: On August 25th I am going to have shoulder reconstruction surgery, a bankart repair reconstruction to be accurate. I’ve had loose joints my whole adult life that comes with having hyper mobility and have dealt with multiple right shoulder dislocations (about 12-15 times). I finally really did a number on it and I now have two tears in my labrum. It’s time to get fixed and heal properly. Its my dominant arm/shoulder so I will be out of commission to paint for 4-8 weeks after surgery. I do plan to do some left hand art and experiment with pouring and more abstract stuff, but I am definitely very nervous and feeling some anxiety about the upcoming process. The surgery is estimated to be arthroscopic, fingers crossed it stays non-invasive! I will keep you in the loop and share what my experience is like and how my weird art turns out through recovery. Setophage Fabulous 16x20 Mixed Media + Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas This Blackburnian Warbler has been through the ringer. I accidentally poked a hole in the canvas as I was installing hanging hardware right before my May exhibit. I was devastated. I said a lot of very aggressive “adult words” and moved on. In all reality, I truly love this piece, but won’t accept asking full price for the painting because of the (now repaired) damage. “Rock Lobster” 🪨🦞 is in current revamp mode. I started this one in about 2013. I’ve put random work into this off and on for a few years, but I think it’s time to finish it and see where it goes! Do you guys start and stop work on pieces? Do you lose interest? I use to find myself really disappointed with the fact that the product didn’t perfectly match what I saw in my head so I’d stop and put the piece away. I have learned throughout the years that I’m not someone who makes perfection - shocking I know 🙄 The concept is something I’ve worked through. Lines aren’t clean enough? That’s ok. Colors aren’t perfectly in tone? That’s ok too. The leaves aren’t like the picture? Dude, it’s nature. This one went to its home last night! I was asked to paint a Chinook CH-47 in my style. No other guidelines, just have fun. I started this painting twice. I painted over it and finally got to a place I loved! I was really intimidated by this commission, I wasn’t even sure where to start… I wouldn’t take this request from just anyone either, this guy is a gem, he’s in the military and he and his wife have supported me and my art since day 1. Naturally, I agreed to the helicopter idea without realizing that I had no idea what a chinook was and how the hell I was going to pull this thing off. My son asked me to make his kindergarten teacher a rainbow painting as a gift for the end of the year. I am not 100% sure about the meaning of this piece other than I kept seeing this layout in my head and it very slowly manifested on this canvas.
